Mike Lawrence is a Senior Vice President at SRSS, joining after nearly 17 years with Ipsos Public Affairs LLC where he had served in a similar role. Working in the federal and commercial spheres, he expects to continue his long career of helping clients meet their data collection and statistical analysis needs. Michael specializes in several research modes with a more recent focus on online probability panel sourced data collection and custom probability panel construction and maintenance. Mike’s 50+ years of professional research experience has led him to constructively collaborate with large clients in the Healthcare, Energy, Homeland Security, and Defense agencies on long term and wide-ranging projects.
His diverse set of large scale research studies include: study on evaluating efforts to reduce adult smoking using advertising featuring vignettes recorded by former smokers; evaluating military recruitment advertising effectiveness among “Influencers” of youths age 15-21 (Dads, Moms, Grandparents and others) and “Reserves” age 17-35 (those who are eligible to serve in the reserves); near real-time monitoring the public’s attitude toward and response to the COVID-19 pandemic; and a biannual large scale in-depth cross-sectional study on household finance. He has helped clients develop and maintain such studies and then managed their execution for the past 17 years.
Mike is active in his professional community, having served the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR) as the annual conference photographer for several years and the photographer for the 75th Anniversary Committee. He is also an active member of several regional AAPOR chapters, having served as Vice President and President of the Southern Association for Public Opinion Research (SAPOR) as well as being an active member of both the Midwest Association for Public Opinion Research (MAPOR) and District of Columbia – American Association for Public Opinion Research (DC-AAPOR). He is also a member of American Public Health Association (APHA), and the American Statistical Association (ASA).
He has a M.A. in Family and Child Sciences from Michigan State University and B.A. in Sociology from State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Mike is married to his high school sweetheart with two adult daughters and one granddaughter. His hobbies are travel (he has visited 65 countries and territories thus far and counting!), photography (he and his wife take approximately 250k photographs annually), and cycling (particularly on a tandem bicycle where he and his wife have cycled more than 180k miles since 1973).
