Melissa Herrmann’s work has spanned market and public policy research for the media, foundations, educational institutions, non-profits, the government, and major corporations.
She began her career at Chilton Research Services working on political polling, academic and government surveys, and a wide array of other research projects. Melissa came to ICR in 1998 to coordinate and execute consumer and opinion research. Eventually SSRS was developed by Melissa, with the goal to create an organization dedicated to quality research and superior client service.
Melissa holds an MA from the University of Pennsylvania, Annenberg School for Communication. She attended Rutgers College and double-majored in Psychology and Journalism/Mass Communications.
An active member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (AAPOR), Melissa has worked on the conference committee, membership committee, and is currently on the Transparency Initiative. She was the AAPOR Education Committee Chair and very actively involved with both conference short courses as well as the inaugural AAPOR webinars. Additionally, she is a member of PANJAAPOR, the American Statistical Association (ASA) and is on the board of the Consortium of Social Science Associations.
Her articles and conference papers on methodological research cover many issues and topics of interest, including a chapter on End-of Life care. Additional publications have been collaborations with research partners, including the New England Journal of Medicine, Health Affairs, and the Hispanic Journal of Behavioral Science.
Melissa has a collection of over 1,000 unique Pez dispensers. She is an avid sports fan and spends hours each week watching her children play whatever sport is in season.
