Arina is motivated by understanding people and finding great food.
With more than 13 years of experience in survey research, Arina specializes in survey methodology, sample design, sample management, and weighting large-scale studies. As a Research Methodologist at SSRS, she has led methodological efforts for major state health surveys, including the California Health Interview Survey (CHIS), Minnesota Health Access Survey (MNHAS), Oregon Health Insurance Survey (OHIS), and Rhode Island Health Information Survey (RI HIS), and served as both Research Methodologist and Research Director for the Annual Survey of Refugees (ASR).
Her research focuses on increasing participation among hard-to-reach and traditionally underrepresented populations and developing innovative approaches to sample design and data collection. She has presented at multiple AAPOR conferences and published in Survey Practice on the effectiveness of prepaid cell phone samples in reaching underrepresented demographic groups.
Arina earned her PhD in Social Psychology from the University of Chicago, where she studied stereotyping and prejudice. She is an active member of AAPOR, the SSRS Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and the SSRS Book Club.
When she’s not thinking about survey methodology, you’ll likely find her at a pottery wheel chasing the perfect mug, curled up with a good book, or planning her next food-focused adventure.
