A new Hofstra-SSRS poll finds Trump’s approval at 33% among suburbanites. In key majority-suburban districts that will determine control of the House, 35% of registered voters in swing suburban districts approve of Trump’s job performance and only 12% strongly approve.

Suburban Democrats report greater motivation to vote than Republicans, while dissatisfaction among younger voters does not consistently translate into Democratic support or plans to vote.

Survey Methodology

The National Center for Suburban Studies (NCSS) at Hofstra University engaged SSRS to conduct the 2026 National Suburban Poll via the SSRS Opinion Panel among U.S. adults ages 18 and older. Data collection was conducted from September 18-25, 2026 among a sample of 1,510 respondents.

The survey was conducted via web in English (1439) and Spanish (71). Data were weighted to represent the target population of U.S. adults ages 18 or older. The margin of sampling error for the complete set of weighted data is ± 3.3 percentage points.
