Chris loves nothing more than learning or experiencing something new. He can just as happily spend an afternoon getting lost on Wikipedia as exploring a new place. As a consequence, he travels as much as possible and reads constantly. Chris’s passion for exploration likely explains how he ended up in research, applying that same hunger to answering questions about what drives society. He has worked as a pollster and public opinion researcher for two decades charting the evolution of the American public through the tumultuous events of recent years. He joined SSRS in 2025 to help build the Civil Society Research practice, focused on research to help rebuild the institutions undergirding America.
In his career Chris has worked with major media, producing polling in partnership with or featured by the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, ABC News, CNN, Reuters, Axios, Politico, as well as numerous international news outlets. He is an expert on American electoral and public polling with a deep background in the American political system. Beyond politics, Chris has worked across a wide range of research subjects – including technology, healthcare, policy, energy and consumer issues – and mastered a wide range of research techniques– including multiple survey methodologies, focus group moderating, in-depth interviewing, and others.
At SSRS, Chris is working to harness the best-in-class public opinion research tools offered by the company with his experience charting trends in social values, politics, and information for our Civil Society Practice. We partner with organizations focused on democracy and governance issues who are looking for an independent, reputable partner to be their strategic advisor.
Chris is a native Mississippian and currently lives in Washington DC with his partner and their three cats. He is a committed member of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, serving on several association committees, and is a frequent public advocate for the survey research industry.
