Led by Ken Winneg, Director of Survey Research at APPC; Robyn Rapoport, Executive Vice President at SSRS; and Lance Holbert, Director of the Leonore Annenberg Institute for Civics at APPC

The proposed idea group for 2026 will consist of representatives from the AAPOR community and K-12 education to discuss what is needed to design, disseminate, and deliver effective classroom materials to educate America’s youth about the public opinion polling process and the role of public opinion research within a democracy. The education groups that would take part in the proposed session have platforms that already have strong audience connections to teachers and students (e.g., Annenberg Classroom, PBS Classroom each average more than 6k visitors per day). Goals for the idea group also include building on efforts already underway to facilitate meaningful collaboration between AAPOR and K-12 education leaders and mapping out a work calendar for the next 12 months, supported by Idea Group attendees and others in the AAPOR and K-12 communities. Notably, Idea Group co-organizers are already in discussions aimed at leveraging strengths among existing entities (e.g., using Annenberg Classroom to aid in the dissemination of education materials created by the Roper Center).
