The Current Innovations in Probability-based Household Internet Panel Research (CIPHER) Conference brings together researchers and policymakers from the United States and beyond for a wide-ranging conversation about innovations, challenges, and opportunities in this field.
SSRS team members Mickey Jackson, Kyle Berta, Darby Steiger, and Cameron McPhee will present at the event.
Mickey’s presentation will share results and lessons learned from the development of real-time attrition risk models for the SSRS Opinion Panel, a multimode probability panel of U.S. adults. The SSRS Opinion Panel tracks a wide variety of paradata that may be helpful for predicting attrition—including detailed disposition codes, data quality flags, length of interview, and self-reported panelist satisfaction—for every panelist and survey wave.
Kyle’s presentation examines what impact jumping between numerous unrelated topics has on panelist behavior. Are they put off by the abrupt changes, do they welcome the variety, or does it not matter? Data for this research comes from more than fifty SSRS Opinion Panel Omnibus surveys conducted between 2022 and 2024.
Darby’s presentation will share our experiences across more than 40 qualitative studies conducted with the SSRS Opinion Panel since 2023, reviewing our methods, lessons learned, and the impact that qualitative participation has had on subsequent panel survey participation and panelist engagement.
The aims of the panel discussion are to encourage reflection and conversation about how we demonstrate the value of probability panels to end-users. Bringing client- and supplier-side perspectives from across the globe, this interactive session will aim to translate our commitment to quality and transparency into enhanced perceptions of relevance and utility by end-users.
