Radiodays Asia 2026 brought together radio leaders, podcasters, and others from around the world to learn more about the state of radio and podcasting in Asian and Pacific markets. The conference took place in Jakarta, Indonesia, where Gabriel Soto, Senior Research Director, shared data-driven findings from Edison Research at SSRS.

The Podcast Consumer 101 Workshop – What to know in 2026
On day one of the conference, Gabriel hosted a workshop on core podcast audience metrics to help attendees understand how and why consumers tune in. The session focused on the 101, or essential findings, from Edison Podcast Metrics™, which helped answer questions about who’s listening, where, what they’re listening to, and what consumers think about the medium.
For example, home is the most popular place to consume podcasts. Two-thirds of U.S. podcast consumers say that’s where they listen or watch most often, and that has only trended upward in the last two years.
New podcasters in the room and radio companies itching to build an audience in podcasting found it useful to understand that video’s rise in the medium has driven the shift to at-home consumption. As more consumers flock to video platforms such as YouTube on their smart TVs and computers, video consideration will become more crucial as podcasters look for ways to cut through the noise of other media at home.
Research on Radio: The State of Radio in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States
Day two of Radiodays brought forth findings from our Infinite Dial® studies, with many Australian and New Zealand delegates in attendance. The session shared the latest estimates of radio listeners in both markets compared to the U.S.
Australians tune in to radio at a higher rate than Americans. The presentation highlighted how public radio’s robust weekly reach (32% among Australians) and community radio’s strong presence (26% of Australians tune in weekly) help propel Australia’s rate above the U.S.
Radio tends to have stronger listening rates in markets where public radio is equipped with a strong budget and support from the state, like Australia and the UK.
The Power of Podcasting: The Top 5 Podcast Consumer Findings of 2026
On the final day of the conference, Gabriel curated the top five podcast audience findings published in Edison’s Weekly Insights over the past year. The findings demonstrate what podcasting can do for an organization, a listener, or, as charted below, an advertiser.
The finding that generated the most discussion (and the most pictures) originated from a case study. Using Nielsen Media Impact’s Podcast Fusion powered by Edison Podcast Metrics, an advertising planning tool, a pharmaceutical company increased its ad campaign’s reach by 26 million people within its target by reallocating ad spend from TV to podcasting with no increase in budget.

The chart prompted many to ask how we can also showcase podcasting’s advertising power in their markets. While these resources may not exist today, our goal in attending Radiodays Asia is to show how Edison Research at SSRS is committed to building them in the future.
