According to our recent Garden State Panel Omnibus Poll, nearly two in three New Jerseyans (61%) say they’re planning to visit the shore this summer, and they’re doing it in a variety of ways:

  • 41% are planning day trips
  • 12% live at the shore full‑time
  • 6% plan to rent a place
  • 3% own a vacation home at the shore

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who’s most likely to be beach‑bound this summer?

Shore plans are especially common among:

  • New Jerseyans in the Philly/South region (68%)
  • Those with kids in the household (67%)
  • People who are married or living with a partner (67%)
  • Millennials, ages 30–45 (66%)

đźš« Why are people skipping the shore?

About one in five New Jerseyans (18%) say they’re not planning to visit the shore this summer. Among them:

  • 8% say it’s too expensive
  • 6% say they don’t like the Jersey Shore
  • 5% have other vacation plans

Another 20% say they’re still not sure what they’ll be doing this summer.

đź‘€ One generational twist:

Gen Z (ages 18–29) is more likely than older generations to say they don’t like the Jersey Shore (10%, compared with 5% of Millennials, 5% of Gen X, and 4% of Baby Boomers).
